We were appointed to design the renovation for the basement which formed the second phase of our Edgbaston project. The renovation works included reconfiguration of the basement to include a new home gym, home wellness spa and refinishing the pool hall to enhance our client’s homes in terms of both experience and value.
A private home wellness spa is not only a calming place to escape the rigours of our busy lives, but also to entertain family and friends. This private basement spa facility has an element of surprise; a space filled with light, crisp white finishes. The design included a sauna and steam room; complete with back, neck & leg sports shower, neck & shin waterfall jets, vertical back water fan and a Kneipp therapy Affusion pipe. We included a separate shower and a small changing area for guests. The subtle and restrained use of textured walls add an opulence to the lighter palette, the use of lighting accentuates the ribbed wall tiles and creating a nice and relaxing setting. ⠀
The pool itself was to remain, however the depth of the pool was unsuitable for our client’s family as there was no shallow end and they really wanted an easier access into the pool. We designed a new tiled platform which combined a small shallow section for younger family members and curved steps into the pool, whilst still allowing space for swimming lengths.
Colour, mood and the use of lighting are all essential elements that combine to create precisely the right environments for our clients. Within the gym we continued the light finishes and feel into the space and once again we layered lighting to give our clients the flexibility of different moods for different activities.
